Bengies Problems From The Weekend We Saw Spiderman
Dear GREAT Patrons of the Bengies Drive-In Theatre,
We are NOW OPEN on FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY!!!!! WE DO NOT accept credit or debit cards at the box office!
Each email I remind our good patrons of this: The >CLOSER< it gets to sunset, the L - O - N - G - E - R the line will Become! ARRIVE EARLY!!! Last weekend, this proved out tremendously accurate, particularly on Friday night. Either the setting sun caught regulars off guard, or they figured we were not going to be busy, but we certainly were.
Traffic backed up so badly, the police had NO CHOICE other than to move the line away from the theatre. In short, we had to not let folks in, and "BROOM" them past the theatre, to end the almost 2 mile traffic back up. This meant a lot of cheesed off patrons, the entire neighborhood was upset, and we (the Bengies) bore all of the blame.
These back-ups are caused by folks arriving ALL AT THE SAME TIME, and what's worse, many folks trying to "cheat" by jumping around the line in the left lane, and trying to CUT IN somewhere closer to the theatre. Then this creates a traffic nightmare, because the neighborhood cannot get past the line by using the left lane! Now 2 lanes are blocked instead of one, and the end result is WE ALL LOSE.
If you are in the right lane waiting patiently, and you see someone "cut in" from the left lane, please note it and when you get close enough to us to tell us, let us know. If we can confirm this with other cars around you, we will deny admission to the party offending. I did so personally on Saturday night, when I saw MANY folks doing this myself. If it is happening too far out of our sight, please let us know.
IMPORTANT! there was an old trick that most folks already know will not work anymore. I mention it now to give fair warning. They would "jump" around the line entirely, go past the theatre, and then try to get in by approaching us from the other direction. WHEN TRAFFIC GETS THAT BACKED UP, WE ARE NOW REQUIRED TO STOP THAT OPPORTUNITY FROM HAPPENING. In short, Baltimore County Police (as many found out) WILL stop the cheaters from entering in either direction. At the point where the traffic is backing up, WE ARE NOT PERMITTED to allow folks to enter from the western approach into the theatre. YOU CANNOT TURN left INTO THE DRIVE-IN, ONCE THE TRAFFIC IS BACKED UP.
Please, PLEASE, PLEASE, be understanding that we need to be very courteous to the neighborhood and businesses on Eastern Blvd. If you are in the right lane and someone wants to turn into a community or business on that side of the road, let them through. It is not ALWAYS about someone wanting to jump in front of you, some folks really need to use the left lane to get around traffic to then turn right into a community, street of business.
Your BEST way out of any of this, please read this, this and remember this always: The >CLOSER< it gets to sunset, the L - O - N - G - E - R the line will Become! ARRIVE EARLY!!! We did not have the problem Saturday night, because I think the word went out and most folks arrived early, but even at that, the roadway was PACKED for by one hour before showtime.
ANY customers TRYING to join the line while others from their party are elsewhere, (like McDonald's or rite aid) will be denied entry! Let me make it clear, ALL persons in your party MUST be in the vehicle, BEFORE you get onto the entrance road. Our roadway is CLEARLY MARKED with signage that you can't miss, "DO NOT PICK UP OR DISCHARGE PASSENGERS ON THE ROADWAY" AND "STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE" If you have someone who wants to jump out and go elsewhere while you are waiting in line, TAKE THE CAR WITH YOU. ALL persons in your party MUST be in the vehicle, BEFORE you get onto the entrance road.
Likewise you cannotshow up early, park your car, leave your vehicle and come back when when you feel like it. It is our right, our privlege and our obligation to open the box office prior to the published box office opening time. There is NO PARKING on the roadway PERIOD.

Matthew, Jeremy and I went to this.
Please do not reply to this email. To be REMOVED, please follow the instructions at the bottom of this email!
Dear GREAT Patrons of the Bengies Drive-In Theatre,
We are NOW OPEN on FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY!!!!!
It is a GO! We are presenting the wide screen event of "SPIDERMAN 3" rated PG13, on the "break" and we will be including "ARE WE DONE YET?" a great family comedy rated PG, AND the spectacular story and imagery of the wide screen "other" comic book hero "GHOST RIDER" rated PG13.
The >CLOSER< it gets to sunset, the L - O - N - G - E - R the line will Become! ARRIVE EARLY!!!
1. ARRIVE EARLY!
2. Have your daytime running lights OUT or covered BEFORE you get to the box office.
3. Have your currency out and ready for the cashier.
My biggest concern is creating any sort of traffic Jamb on the busy state highway, Maryland 150 east (Eastern Blvd.) If the traffic builds up, the police have no chose but to busy the light and/or "Broom" the traffic away. Arriving early can prevent any kind of difficulty for ALL of us.
Complete schedule is below.

Bengies Winter Show
An announcement of many thanks, and a note of regret.
Many thanks for those 100 cars full of wonderful patrons last Saturday night, it was a blast! The responsible way you all replied correctly to gain attendance, and almost EVERY reply actually arrived! It may have been 100%, but sometimes something gets lost in the “shuffle.”
Of all the special events so far, this one had to have topped them all as I never saw a bunch of happier people in my life!
Stu Megaw had a big surprise (Party) for his ½ century mark, and our own Marty Kircher OUTDID himself, providing door prizes worth a small fortune, some of them autographed by producers and directors, and well, I just cannot say enough about this genuine promotional minded one of kind guy!
The ONLY regret is that someone named KATIE decided to carve her name once again, on the women’s toilet partitions in 2 places in 2 different stalls, and as any of the women attending know, we were in the process of painting and renewing the partitions.
“Katie” has been doing this often and for a very long time.
We work so hard to maintain this theatre, where a lot of you may be laughing at this, whoever this Katie is, we have over 20 pictures of her attempts at doing this over the last year, it is one of the reasons we had endeavored to upgrade these partitions, and make them look nice.
Almost EVERY time she carves, she also carves a heart around the name, so there is no mistake, this pain is also someone who thinks she is a special patron of the Bengies.
Please understand me, I work too hard to put up with this kind of “reward” so ladies be warned. The way I stopped the destruction in the men’s room was with a permanent camera encased with plastic, aimed at the door to record who enters.
Now we will need to do the same in theladies room, all because we have one idiot who thinks this is cute when all it does is degrade my house, and I am not putting up with it. We can do much better with our time and expense for you all than continually covering graffiti marks left by an ignorant patron. (this was a weekly thing last season, as fast as we covered it up it would be there AGAIN… and I am not doing it anymore!)
So, I will now spend money for this ridiculous need to install a new camera, slow speed video recorder, and have to monitor the ladies room, all so we can find out who we really do not want coming to the Bengies anymore.
Believe me, when I finally nail this Katie, she will be paying one huge bill, and I most certainly do have the evidence for reimbursement. If no one figured it out, our best friend here is a digital camera that we use to record all vandalism before we repair damaged and vandalized property, and Katie, or her parents are going to have one heck of a bill.
